.New chapter. The third edition includes an entirely new chapter titled ”Management Concepts.” It discusses enterprise risk management, business process management, and expectancy theory, giving the third edition an interdisciplinary lens for considering AIS topics.

.Flowcharting. The chapter on flowcharting has been updated and revised to make the process more understandable for students. I am deeply indebted to Dr. Kathy Hurtt of Baylor University for helping me focus my thinking on this important topic. (And, in case you were wondering, she’s not related to me.)

.Business process chapters reorganized. The three chapters on business processes have been reorganized to reflect more closely the generic AIS structure discussed in Chapter 1.

.Prior material application. Starting in Chapter 9, every chapter includes this problem type. These problems help students apply fundamentals from previous chapters, such as the generic structure of AIS and systems development life cycle, to later topics in the course.

.Multiple choice questions. Every chapter now includes two sets of multiple choice questions. The first, titled ”Multiple Choice Review,” appears early in the end-of-chapter materials; answers to the multiple choice review questions can be found near the end of the text. The second set focuses on higher-order thinking.

.Every chapter has an updated ”AIS in the Business World,” along with many new.
